The Revive Hope East Africa Society is conceived with the major objectives of eradicating chronic poverty and mitigating environmental degradations in East African countries. The unabated worsening poverty and environmental degradations led to rising social unrest, mass exodus, proliferation of extremist ideologies and catastrophic climate changes. Lack of access to basic necessities like food and clean water, education, health care, electric power and good governance seriously frustrates the young generations and forced them to resort to dangerous and illegal alternatives that often cost the lives of hundreds of migrants. Past efforts to correct these problems were either largely misguided, or fell short of addressing the root causes.
In most of East African countries about half of the total population is chronically undernourished. Tens of millions of people are exposed to severe famine and are in urgent need of food aid on yearly basis. At the moment (July 2017) a total of about 16 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance. The number, according to FAO, has increased by about 30% since late 2016. The vicious circle of drought and famine has caused the decimation of millions of people and livestock and seriously upset the social fabric of certain communities in East Africa. In recent years drought and famine have been the culprits of repeated armed clashes between adjacent communities, social unrest and political tensions.
