Our Works

Revive Hope East Africa Society is a not-for-profit organization committed to respond to the needs of the most disadvantaged rural communities and refugees in six eastern African countries. We have a passionate desire and willingness to revive their hope and empower them so that they achieve sustainable and thriving economic and environmental powers.

A large number of children in eastern African countries are facing huge life challenges on daily basis. More than a third of children in east Africa are consistently exposed to the risk of serious health problems due mainly to malnutrition. Millions of children in east Africa are vulnerable, orphaned, impoverished and become homeless at their early ages. Some of them even face enormous responsibilities to take care of their siblings. Proper education is out of their reach as they commit most of their time to sustain their and their siblings' lives. Through our partners in Ethiopia, we facilitate a support mechanism to enable elementary school children successfully attend their classes. We also facilitate sustainable provision of basic needs such as accommodation, food, clothing and school supplies. Particular emphasis is placed on enabling young girls not only to access basic education but also help them complete their elementary and secondary schools to the same extent to their male peers. The project attempts to support school kids with basic educational supplies and accessories, provision of sanitation facilities, installation of solar panels both for schools and community centers.

The society is also charged with supporting local communities in taking care of and improving their environment through sustainable farming practices and natural resources use. Sustainable water harvesting and soil conservation practices will be developed and/or introduced and promoted among rural communities. Appropriate forest cover rehabilitation schemes will be identified, developed and promoted.

Majority of rural communities in east Africa have no access to safe clean water. Most women and children walk for hours to fetch water from rivers, shallow wells or unprotected and contaminated ponds where they share with animals. RHEA will explore potential sources and develop sustainable access to safe clean drinking water for rural schools and community centers by installing pipes, concrete pads and hand pumps.

Millions of refugees (close to half a million only in Ethiopia) are currently stranded in refugee camps across eastern African countries. They are unwilling to repatriate to their homeland or unable to integrate in the host countries due to hostile political and social encounters. Not only are their dreams shadowed in getting a durable solution but they are also exposed to periodic violent clashes from local extremist groups and armed gangs. In an effort to seek a durable solution thousands of refugees were either drowned, eaten by wild animals, killed by smugglers, or murdered for their organs. RHEA is committed to help the refugees in east Africa by bringing their plights to the attention of Canadian government, humanitarian organizations and communities as well as individuals and promoting their sponsorship and resettlement through independent sponsorship groups and joint sponsorship schemes.
